Heartland Raceway Podium Result = Confidence Boost PDF Print E-mail

The 2008/09 season has taken another positive spin for Steve Lines after he clinched a second place feature race finish at Heartland Raceway (Moama, NSW) last Saturday night during the second round of the Victorian based Eureka Garages and Sheds Super Sprint Series. A second place quite easily could have been a victory as Lines had held down command on a few occasions throughout the feature race, but the South Australian racer finished in second place and was thrilled to finish on the podium for the first time this season.

“It’s fair to say that our team hasn’t had the best starts to the season, and last Saturday night’s podium result is certainly a step in the right direction and it has given everyone a big boost in confidence,” said the # 45 SA Camden Neon Signs backed J&J driver.

“In the closing stages of the feature race Brett [Milburn] was able to drive around the outside of me and he then went on to take out the win, as he took the gamble and it paid off for him, and you had to be brave to go around the outside as it was a fine line and a really tough up there.”

All night it was Lines and Milburn that were at the head of the field all night on a Heartland Raceway track that was really demanding on a number of levels.

“The car is in one piece and our team can now work on improving things and moving towards achieving our first feature race victory of the season,” he enthused.

“Although it wasn’t a win it’s the next best thing, and it seems that the haunts of our unlucky start to the season are going away and we can now concentrate on chasing results.”

Earlier in the night Lines finished third (from the rear of the field) in his opening heat race and he then won his second heat race and headed into the feature race as the second highest point scorer and therefore started from position two in the field.

Lines is next set to be in action this Saturday night (November 15) at Speedway City (Adelaide, South Australia) for the third round of their track championship point score.
