Back-to-Back Podium Finishes for Lines PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 18 November 2008

Two podium finishes in the space of as many weeks has certainly lifted the spirits and the confidence levels of Steve Lines. Lines’ latest podium result came last Saturday night at Adelaide’s Speedway City in South Australia with a second place finish in the feature race during the third round of the Speedway City Sprintcar Track Championship.

Throughout the duration of the feature race Lines was well in contention for a break-through feature race victory in the 2008/09 season but he fell just short by finishing second behind winner Allan Woods.

After starting the feature race from position four, by virtue of finishing both of his heat races in fourth and second place, Lines quickly worked his way into second place. Despite his best efforts to take control of the lead the reigning South Australian Champion had to settle for a second place finish on the podium. There were a few occasions where Lines had caught up to Woods in lapped traffic but he was unable to execute a pass for the lead.

“Woodsy [Allan Woods] drove a good race and in the end I had to be happy with second,” he remarked. “I am pretty sure if I had got out in front early like Woodsy I wouldn’t have been passed either. It was just that type of night where the top 3 runners were pretty much on the same pace.”

With his confidence growing Lines and his # 45 Camden Neon Signs supported J&J are now headed to Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway this Saturday night (November 22) for the third round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Super Sprint Series.
