Gambier, South Australia, Australia Car / Engine: J&J powered by a Maxwill Race Engines prepared 410ci Chev Biography: At only the age of 24 Steve Lines has certainly achieved a lot since his humble beginnings in Junior Sedans as a 12 year old. In his Junior Sedan days Lines quickly became a household name within his home state of South Australia, achieving state title wins in both South Australia and Victoria, and when he graduated out of Junior Sedans he moved up into the Street Stock class. Lines’ time in Street Stocks saw him continue his run of success and at the age of only 18 years old he took out the Australian Street Stock Title. Being just the age of 18 at the time Lines went down in the history books as one of the youngest drivers to ever win an Australian Championship. Lines in Street Stock also took out a number of state title wins and multiple feature race victories too. At the age of 19 Lines moved away from a very successful stint in the Street Stocks into a completely different form of Speedway competition…Sprintcars. Making his debut towards the end of the 2003/04 season after Lines purchased an ex Camden Neon Signs J&J from Melbourne based businessman David Challons. Two seasons running his own family operation in Sprintcars, where he scored moderate success and showed plenty of promise, Lines was offered a drive with the Camden Neon Signs team and joined forces with David Challons, whom he brought his first Sprintcar from in early 2004. The combination of Lines and the Camden Neon Signs team proved an instant success and the pair quickly started shaking up some of the more fancied teams and his ability in Sprintcars was quickly came to the fore. After a successful 2005/06 season, Lines and the Camden Neon Signs team continued their success throughout the 2006/07 season. The 2007/08 season saw Lines scored a number of sensational results that included winning the South Australian Title, along with various other feature race victories and a number of podium finishers in events such as World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship rounds. During the off season in 2008 Lines made his first venture over to compete on American soil and spent a total of four months over there. Running with well-known American car owner Jeff McCall, Lines showed plenty of his talent as a driver. Although Lines scored a handful of feature race wins, he was also hindered by bad luck and it robbed him of more feature race wins. It is without a doubt Lines made his mark in America and is set to return next year. Loaded with plenty of extra knowledge, Lines heads into the 2008/09 season with his confidence sky high. In 2008/09 season Lines has once again teamed up with the Camden Neon Signs team as they celebrate their third season in succession as a formidable combination.
