Despite wanting more, Steve Lines has shown good speed throughout the first weekend of racing in Western Australia during the final round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship at the Perth Motorplex.
The current South Australian Title holder finished the opening night of the WSS Championship finale fourth in the preliminary feature race and then he backed up that result the following night with a sixth place feature race finish. Although he was pleased to finish well inside the top 10 of both nights of Australia’s toughest series, Lines felt that his VIC # 45 H.A. Young Plumbing supported J&J lacked just that little bit of horsepower compared to the drivers ahead of him. “It was only a little bit as we exited the corners but around a huge track such as the Perth Motorplex it makes all the difference and that little bit of horsepower that we were lacking can sometimes be the difference between finishing on the podium or not,” Lines mentioned. “To come away from the Perth Motorplex with a fourth and a sixth place isn’t too bad of a result and I’m looking forward to returning there in a fortnight’s time for the running of the King of the Wings to improve on these results and get onto the podium somewhere.” Due to a broken torsion stop during the latter stages of the preliminary feature race last Friday at the Perth Motorplex, Lines was robbed of a possible podium spot. At the time of the problem he was battling with David Murcott for third place. Another part of Lines’ Western Australia tour that has him focused on success is the fact that this is the home state of his major sponsor, H.A. Young Plumbing. “Yes, having my sponsor, H.A. Young Plumbing, based over here is certainly extra motivation to perform strongly and I’m looking forward to posting strong results in the coming weekends,” added Lines. Lines finished ninth during the 14th round of the WSS Championship last Wednesday night at Kalgoorlie International Speedway that kicked off his month long Western Australia tour and then the weekend before that he finished sixth in the Australian Nationals at Speedway City (Adelaide, SA). The latest round of the Southern Thunder Series is to be held this Saturday night (February 13) at Collie Speedway (Collie, WA) and Lines is set to compete. The new range of Steve Lines merchandise includes t-shirts, hoodies and caps in a range of sizes and it is all available from the VIC # 45 transporter at all of the remaining 09/10 season race meetings. 09/10 season Steve Lines merchandise prices: T-shirts = $25 Hoodies = $45 Caps = $20 Steve Lines is proudly supported in the 09/10 season by the following organisations: H.A.
